Restoration of 1st Edition UNIX kernel sources from pdf document.

The unix-jun72 project has scanned in a http://www.bitsavers.org/pdf/bellLabs/unix/PreliminaryUnixImplementationDocument_Jun72.pdf'>printout of 1st Edition UNIX from June 1972, and restored it to an incomplete but running system. Userland binaries and a C compiler have been recovered from http://www.tuhs.org/Archive/PDP-11/Distributions/research/1972_stuff/'>other surviving DECtapes. The software retains the copyright of the original authors and is currently licensed under the http://www.tuhs.org/Archive/Caldera-license.pdf'>Caldera ancient UNIX license.

Please read the top-level http://code.google.com/p/unix-jun72/source/browse/trunk/Readme'>Readme for details on installing and running the restored system. You will need to download the http://unix-jun72.googlecode.com/files/images-20080625.tgz'>disk images for the installation; you may also want to download the http://unix-jun72.googlecode.com/files/svntree-20081216.tar.gz'>system source code and tools used to rebuild it.

The source code and tools can be http://code.google.com/p/unix-jun72/source/browse/'>browsed on-line, or you can checkout a http://code.google.com/p/unix-jun72/source/checkout'>copy of the Subversion repository. You can also browse the http://man.cat-v.org/unix-1st/'>manuals online.
