the unicode consortium's greatest failure is the fact that i can't type a rising intonation, a whisper, a veryfastskipoversomethingthatprovidescontextalreadyknowntotherecipient, a whine and a hand motion, or tongue-teeth smock and a vague but concrete facial expression on a PC104

if im writing markup then yes i can theoretically encode them, use a different font, styling, whatever; this is shit and doesn't work, if only because it's an uhhhhh conceptset->language->written language->styling and vice versa and oh boy that's so reproducible and usable
 Sun May 31 22:38:24 +0000 2020

Replying to @nabijaczleweli

this is not helped by the conceptset im encoding being massively niche (consider being polish and also gay but also a pervasive english context and russian-or-french-based stitching to finish it off) for normal talking, also half of the sounds required cannot be represented; dope

compare this to a context that can be assumed on twitter or any other general-purpose non-closed-(group-)chat medium (vaguely anglo-saxon, hopefully knows where казахстан is) and it's truly a joke, a failure of computing heretofor and presumably hereinout as well

"computers facilitate communication" so long as you treat them as telephones and even then they're shit, because The Internet™, means the experience is not even remotely real-time and it entails using a webcam (shit) and/or microphone (shit) or either but (expensive)
 Sun May 31 22:54:35 +0000 2020

here's a fun thing you can do: attempt to do something that requires an instant precise feedback loop (make-up, slicing) by looking at a camera preview screen without pre-baking any motion, also do not rely on proprioception, also audio is mostly unusable because it's even slower
 Sun May 31 22:59:35 +0000 2020

Replying to @nabijaczleweli

good great lovely; your findings may be that you can't because you either need to pre-bake at sentence level or speak incredibly slowly, which, lol

household computing is a failure at an immense scale; this is also why i advocate for "s/390 w domu i zagrodzie" – at least it doesn't pretend to be able to facilitate communication what, with no x; it does computing; telephony is better left to telephony
