The phone is certainly waterproof, which is nice, but I've spent fifteen minutes with a hairdryer already defogging both cameras and the flash hole (and so far only the front camera did), so
Replying to @nabijaczleweli
like i logically knew this phone is held by a warmable goop but i thought I'd have to get it hotter than uhhhh two blue waves on this marvel of 2003 tech, so the back panel squishing was kinda spoopy ngl
there's literally one good thing about american bagels and it's this

Today's mistake is i plugged an ethernet cable in

this two-routes-with-the-same-metric config was deemed impossible by [REDACTED], but here we are!
Replying to @nabijaczleweli
its 7:13 am, ive been at this for roughly 10 hours, and im incredibly stupid, but following some nice lady's tutorial and [REDACTED]'s guidance im have achieved :b:ond
Replying to @nabijaczleweli
the day is the morrow, or, uhhhhh the next morrow (oops) but im proud to present (1) a file copy and a torrent of debian dvd (of course) and (2) file copies on two computers
granted, I'm still dropping 1.5 packets per second and I have zero idea why, but
Replying to @nabijaczleweli
the DNS resolution for this post brought to you by (1) systemd-networkd, verbosity heavyweight, (2) bumped netdev budget, and (3) bigger receive buffers, for all your fast network, slow CPU needs, and so you're not dropping packets all over the fucking floor
thinking about,, this release again
Replying to @nabijaczleweli
the 1 packet drop per second and some more once a minute originate from the access points! and there's no way to configure them to not multicast with this shitty protocol!! tp-link continues to be a mistake!!!!
below the fabled box lies a relic from before time, or, indeed, three of them
I didn't actually see any cards at all in the one I opened, much less a quadro, but the specsheet says it's got a 1G NIC, so that's nice
Replying to @nabijaczleweli
the sheet also specifies different CPUs, some >2GHz, which the pfsense website is Valid for 1G so hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

also saw a stack of these, and, tbh,, this is 100% how im tryna be
didn't know it was even possible to gentrify this area, but here we are!

kinda a shame about the building tho, it was a nice socrealist piece

Replying to @interruptinuse
hmm i saw some Gamedev™ "serialisation" that amounted to mmap()+memcpy() of raw internal data to savefiles once
now, this being C++(ish) code the data was full of pointers – those were padded out in some atrocious way; sometimes. well, rarely.

Replying to @nabijaczleweli
so I got two more (obviously), and the packaging, apart from general stamping problems, seems perfectly identical ?
Replying to @nabijaczleweli
the mould on the stamp seems to be marked with a linear 029-560 on one of them, the other, like the first one, lays it out in two lines, bigger
the one with the linear stamp also lacks a dash (or is it a 1?) in the bottom-left corner, neither of them have the M mark of the first
Replying to @nabijaczleweli
the stamping on the bottom of the clean-carrier chip is (a) kinda fucky and (b) a half-turn off from the others
all the numbers match, except the last one on the top of the chip, which makes me assume it's the serial: 089 for the clean, 093 for the dashed, and 011 for the first
Replying to @m0nkey_br4in and @Foone
on my 4.19 linux with onboard graphics there's at least three (incl. the one to the kernel), plus there's one to grub, and another one if via UEFI
Replying to @m0nkey_br4in and @Foone
but tbh this is preferable to some older kernels just not switching to full screen resolution unless specified on the command-line, or, worse still, windowing(?) in the top-left three quarters of the screen leaving the rest unused

so i was imaging a 160G drive and despite the roughly 100M/s read the output was kinda uhh much slower sometimes which was worrying until i remembered i set compression=lz4, which, granted, used the entirety of the RAM, but brought that down to roughly 29G, for essentially free

the drives do come out (with some convincing, but mostly of me to pull further) by pulling on the tabs, and like honestly im kinda surprised this is tool-less to this degree

the HDD is a 160G WD Caviar Blue labelled 30.07.11 and has OEM stickers; the specs match except that the PDF says it's supposed to ship with HP drives? so?
also neat what looks like (aluminium?) emergency blowy pressure uhh things?
hm
Replying to @nabijaczleweli
the drive passed SMART self-tests and imaged at a respectable speed, but it also says it's been on for 50325 hours? that's like 5 years and 3 months? which, combined with only 73(!) power cycles, points to essentially server use, I'd guess, since my desktop HDD has 19895h/1641c?

ZFS (on linux, if that makes a difference) easily vored 85/96GB under continuous /write/ load with compress=lz4 in one run i did, but still only 150% CPU (E5645 w/HT), so
Replying to @Cory5412 and @atomicthumbs
in that case I was imaging a mostly empty, it turned out, 160G drive (see attached tweet for graphs), but it's mainly a generic data hole with a side of transcode/some art that scales well and kills my desktop

i'm pretty sure i capped out on the reads on the drive being imaged here – WD1600AAJS with 50326 hours on it since manufacture date 30 Jul 2011 – just tested and got over 700/300 R/W @ 400% CPU with a simple unoptimised dd between RAM and the mount; plus, E6545s aren't that fresh
symptoms: literally nothing, despite my best efforts
predixion: the power button/charge hole is fucked
current status: i finally found an HP service manual for this piece of trash after a couple months
problem: i still have a low-end HP laptop
Replying to @nabijaczleweli
noticing this would've been pretty nice before i took half the laptop apart but oh well

nothing a PH000 and SL15 drivers can't fix but this was not it :v
Replying to @nabijaczleweli
well, wouldja look at that!
Replying to @nabijaczleweli
if look at the (mislabeled! 7 and 8 are swapped) figure in the manual you'll see that 7 is the "power button board cable"
if you look closely at the first photo in the thread you'll see that this cable was left unconnected by some braindead service tech this was at before :):)
Replying to @nabijaczleweli
first fucking sign of live from this piece of trash, and the only thing i changed was plug the goddamned power button board in because (and repaste it) because that's apparently too hard for someone who takes money for this
this full-size, pressed and printed, CD that came with the switch is exactly 7456768 bytes, and contains one (1) PDF, which is a very good use of everyone's time and resources on D-Link's side
